“Monumental Rembrandt”. For its pose Gabriël Sterk used a famous Rembrandt drawing made in 1650. Today the drawing is in the collection of Het Rembrandt Huis in Amsterdam. But Sterk used also all Rembrandt’s painted self-portraits to capture the expression and resemblance of the famous painter.
